Wii Consoles In The Free Encyclopedia

The Wii (pronounced as the English pronoun we, IPA: /wiː/) is the fifth home video game console released by Nintendo. The console is the direct successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3.It competes with both as part of the seventh generation of video game systems.
A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detect movement in three dimensions. Another is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.
Nintendo first spoke of the console at the 2004 E3 press conference and later unveiled the system at the 2005 E3. Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show.At E3 2006, the console won the first of several awards.By December 8, 2006, it had completed its launch in four key markets. The Financial Times reported that as of September 12, 2007, the Wii is the sales leader of its generation, based on sales figures from Enterbrain, NPD Group, and GfK.

Modchips Infectus 2 For Wii Released

Well the wait is over and we finally have the successor to the famous Infectus modchip, the latest and greatest mod chip to date from Team Infectus is here. The Infectus 2 like the former model from the team is a universal mod chip and programmer for all most all consoles in the market. It can be used on PS2, Wii, Xbox 360 as a mod chip or also as a nand programmer and more. Right now we would have to say the most popular use for the Infectus mod chip would be for Xbox 360 and the just recently added support for the Wii. Because of the release of Argon, we mainly see its primary use being for the Xbox 360. The Infectus range are the first chips in history to function on more then one brand of console, this feet alone deserves some respect. The guys at team Infectus really are a talented bunch of guys that help pioneer the industry in many ways. We have not doubt the guy will get the Infectus 2 modchip working on PS3 this year, and possibly some very cool stuff with Xbox 360 Nand flashing. The primary use for Infectus 2 on Xbox 360 right now is as a drive chip similar to the NME range, which is a good thing as it’s nice to have a choice between chips when really there is so few on the market. But don’t be mistaken, these puppy’s are a lot harder to install on the 360 then the NME, but with saying that, if you just wanted a standard chip you probably would not be reading this page anyway.---------get from website

Definition Of Modchip From Encyclopedia

A modchip (short for modification chip) is a small electronic device used to modify or disable built-in restrictions and limitations of many popular videogame consoles. It introduces various modifications to its host system's function, including the circumvention of region coding, digital rights management, and copy protection checks for the purpose of running software intended for other markets, copied game media, or unlicensed third-party (homebrew) software. Modchips are mainly used in CD/DVD-based videogame systems due to the availability and low cost of user-writable media. In addition to games consoles, modchips are also available for some DVD players to circumvent region code enforcement and user operration prohibitions.
